WHO WE ARE
Helicon is a literature and art magazine, a platform for Back Bay high school students to showcase their creativity in whatever medium calls to them. Created in 2016 by Commonwealth School’s Writing and Publishing class, the magazine has grown to serve a whole community of writers and artists. Developing an online presence has allowed us to broaden our reach and include audiovisual works that don’t translate to print, though we are still committed to publishing physical works. Helicon is proud to be a community of creators, not just a wall to hang your work on. Through our peer editing system and writing workshops, we’re doing our part to support the creators who support us.
HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?
Submit your work! Helicon is always working on the next issue, and collecting works is a huge part of the process. Every written piece is read by two editors, who communicate with the author to ensure that every piece is the best it can be. You can get involved behind the scenes too! Editors, formatters and graphic designers are welcome to join our team whenever they’ve got the time and interest. You don’t have to be an expert to help out, just send us an email! For submissions and other inquiries, reach out to us at heliconartandlit@gmail.com.
